It didn’t matter that the ref called it a clean hit. Nico Hunter would never be the same.
Elle has a good life. A job she loves, a great apartment, and the guy she’s been dating for more than two years is a catch and a half. But it’s boring…and she strives to keep it that way. Too many emotions are dangerous. Her own past is living proof of what can happen when you lose control.
Then Nico walks into Elle’s office and everything changes…for both of them. But what can the tattooed, hard-bodied MMA fighter and the beautiful and always steady attorney have in common? A lot more than they bargained for.
What I Thought
So, this book in one word? Hot! This fit into my obsession with sports books. I don’t know what it is about them, but I do enjoy a good book that involves athletes! Maybe it is the body that you have to have to BE an athlete?
Anyway… this one was so well written and such a great story, I found myself unable to put down. It definitely fit the quick read list, I read it in one day, but more importantly, I fond myself pulled into the story and really caring about the characters. Nico and Elle are both beautiful people who have a sad past. Through the course of the story, they both have to learn to get over their past and start working on a future together. I also really liked the side characters, they really added to the spark and romance of the whole story.
I have never been to an MMA match before, so I don’t know how accurate all that was. but I can imagine that it was pretty right on. The story had quite a few bumps. I admit that more than once I felt like the date/timing sequence felt a little off (at one point they had a date on Friday night and the next thing it seemed like they were going to work/school the next day. These kind of set me off a little, but the rest of the story more than made up for it.
